The history of the shotgun house is as rich and colorful as the structure that it represents.
This architectural design has been celebrated since 1810. It's a rich cultural form that originated in the American South, notably Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana.
Shotgun houses are designed to be long and narrow with a gable-ended entrance, one room wide, and two or three rooms in depth. Legend says that the shotgun house was named such that one could fire a bullet from a shotgun through the front door and the shot could exit out the back door without ever touching a wall.
Today these houses are rich in colors and architecture designs...
