One of the best things to building with cardboard is getting paid to build with cardboard.

Pictured above (r) is the model of the firehouse from which the cardboard replica was built.
The original Detroit Firehouse was built in 1918 and occupied by Ladder Company 16 in 1919. Leslie Durant, who became a fire captain, retired after 18 years of working from this firehouse and 35 years of total service as a fireman. His wife, Katherine Durant, commissioned this replica as a surprise gift for her husband's many years of service to the Detroit Fire Department. |
